Mr Happy Chainsaw are a 4 piece rock band from Essex. They were formed in early 2005 born into a local music scene dominated by metal and emo with a band name based on the Alkaline Trio song “Mr Chainsaw”.

After several gigs and sessions writing new material Mr Happy Chainsaw took to the studio to record their first EP “E is for Idiot”. Playing off the back of this CD Mr Happy Chainsaw gained fans from their home towns Witham and Colchester. This local success drove the band to write new material which later became “The Anywhere but Here” and “The Mr Happy Chainsaw” EPs which saw Mr Happy Chainsaw address issues in the lives of everyday people.

With 3 EPs under their belt Mr Happy Chainsaw have taken their catchy rock music around the UK playing punk festivals in Skegness with The Vibrators, invites to play in Malta and France and label interest from several independent labels as well as playing some of the UK’s best venues and supporting some great bands such as TAT, My Awesome Compilation, Engerica, The Glitterati, INME and Enter Shikari.

Early 2008 saw Mr Happy Chainsaw, their drummer and bassist parting company due to personal reasons and commitments elsewhere, causing the band to have a break and re-evaluate the situation. In September 2008 they were joined by Colchester, grade 8 drummer, Ben Westall and long time friend of Martin and Scott, Mike Daenen on bass.

Practising and recording at Nathan Wacey’s new Long Track Studios, Mr Happy Chainsaw have found themselves in a situation where the lyrics, chords and drum beats flow and this has made the line-up of Martin, Scott, Mike and Ben, the most complete line-up of Mr Happy Chainsaw.

2009 will see the release of Mr Happy Chainsaw’s most unique and mature sounding CD to date. Aptly titled “We Appear To Be On Fire” was recorded in March with a May release date.
